If you use Highway 5 in central Saskatchewan or Highway 39 in southeast Saskatchewan, you should expect some travel delays.
The province is starting work on a number of passing lane projects which in the long run will improve traffic flow while providing more chances to pass safely. But in the meantime, motorists are asked to be patient in the work zones.
Work is underway on the 18.8 million dollar first phase of a multi year project on Highway 5 which includes about 10 kilometres of widening and sight line improvements through the hills east of the old Highway 27 to Blucher Road.
Delays could be as long as 30 minutes and the Ministry of Highways suggests it might be better to try Highways 41 and 27 or Highways 16 and 2.
The Highway 39 project is between North Portal and Rouleau with multiple crews working on more than 200 kilometres of highway this summer.
