A Conference Board of Canada study says building Small Modular Reactors in Ontario and Saskatchewan would create jobs, increase provincial revenues and help with zero-emission, reliable and cost-competitive energy.
The report suggests on average, manufacturing and construction could add over 7,000 jobs a year from a fleet of Saskatchewan SMRs.
Deploying an SMR in Ontario could generate $2.6-billion in GDP, $1.7-billion in wages and $873-million in taxes for the economy.
The Conference Board of Canada’s report says Saskatchewan could see an $8.8-billion increase in GDP for the deployment of four SMR units.
