A 20 year-old man is facing charges following a report that he pointed a firearm at family members.
At approximately 3:26 p.m., on Saturday, Police received a 911 call to a home in the 900 block of Avenue J South. The responding officers located a man in a garage who allegedly became confrontational and non compliant with police. An officer deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon successfully and he was taken into custody without further incident. Officers report locating a loaded sawed off .22 calibre rifle. The male was treated at scene by Medavie Health Services and then transported to detention.
He is facing numerous firearms charges, a dangerous weapon charge, a charge of threats to cause death, and several breaches of a probation order. He will be brought before a Justice of the Peace on Sunday.
The incident will be reviewed in accordance with Saskatoon Police Service policy.
