This is the first post-pandemic Saskatoon Ex since 2019. Marketing Manager Kristy Rempel says they have spaced their vendors further apart to allow for social distancing if people wish and there are handwashing stations all through the Ex.
The Saskatoon Ex began Friday and goes until Sunday and then they take two days off, to clean the site, before starting up again August 11th to 15th.
Rempel says the hand washing stations are not the only entity that is readily available, they are also providing water refill stations so you can bring your empty water bottle and just refill while you’re there.
There is an area to cool off in Hall C should anyone needs respite from the sun and heat, but the buildings are not open for walking around because there is generally nothing in them other than the vaccination clinics which are still taking place.
North American Midways are coming and one of the new rides is The Coaster. There are no indoor shows or displays and the art showcase is virtual, it is completely online because its organization starts early in the year. There is also no parade downtown but everything else they managed to move outside such as the market square with the vendors, the Super Dogs show, and some other shows are still part of the Ex, but they are outside.
