Internal Saskatchewan Health Authority modelling predicts that by the end of this month, Saskatchewan could be reporting 750 cases a day with 350 people in the hospital with COVID-19 and 125 in ICU. That’s according to NDP Leader Ryan Meili, who is calling on the Premier to release all the modelling that informed his choice at the beginning of the summer to drop all public health restrictions and take no action until Thursday’s announcements about masking in indoor public spaces and upcoming vaccine mandates.
Meili suggests more transparency is needed from the Sask Party government. The NDP would also like the daily COVID-19 updates to resume, and the weekly briefings from Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab.
