Donations to the Canadian Red Cross in relation to the on-going humanitarian efforts in Ukraine will allow the organization to send over personnel, equipment and funds to support the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement response in Ukraine and surrounding countries, including those who have been displaced from their homes.
Teams on the ground in Ukraine are providing emergency assistance for basic needs including food, shelter and water, along with personal hygiene kits. Teams are also helping people cope with psychological trauma and are operating mobile health teams and raising awareness of health risks.
The Canadian Red Cross told CJWW News in an email that the Ukrainian Red Cross Society has 3,000 volunteers and 550 staff working across the country.
As of Sunday morning, reports suggest more than 1.5 million civilians have fled Ukraine as Russia’s invasion continues.
