The fundraiser occurred as part of the Leading Edge Speckle Park annual bull and heifer sale last Saturday at Saskatoon Livestock Sales.
The four breeders donated Speckle Park genetics that were auctioned to in-person and online buyers. When all of the winning bids and additional donations were tallied, there was a total of $24,000.
“We are selling bulls, but we can make a difference,” said Rob Harasymchuk—who along with his wife Janice—owns INC Cattle Company west of Cudworth. “It doesn’t matter, people are there to help, you just have to give them the opportunity.”
Rob has never been to Ukraine—but he can trace the family roots to the western part of the country near Lviv.
“We just have to do something to help these people in their hour of need. As Canadians, all of us have a responsibility to help those that need it,” he said.
The other three Speckle Park breeders are Green Hills Livestock from Blaine Lake (Glen and Barb Zerebeski), Highmark Stock Farm of Hague (Harv and Fran Fehr) and Pura Vida Acres (Joe and Gayle Stookey) near Saskatoon.
