The average retail price of gas in Saskatoon has fallen by 4.6 cents a litre in the past week, according to GasBuddy.com, with an average price on Sunday at $1.49.49 a litre.
The national average has fallen 0.7 cents a litre in the past week, to $.29.17 a litre. Comparing the price on Sunday to the same date last year, prices were 18.5 cents a litre higher in Saskatoon, and 37.1 cents a litre lower than a month ago. The national average is down 17.6 cents a litre from a month ago, and is 30.5 cents a litre higher than a year ago.
Head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, Patrick De Haan, says, “For the ninth week straight, gas prices have continued to fall, but the streak is at great risk of being broken this week with wholesale gasoline prices having bounced back, up some 10 cents per litre as oil prices have rebounded. That means the decline in average prices could wrap up soon, with some price increases possible as early as this week.
