Saskatchewan now has two new millionaires thanks to lottery wins. Stacey Lamothe of Meadow Lake had a pretty amazing week. Two days after claiming his million dollar prize, he and his wife had a baby girl.
He won his prize on the October 14th Lotto Max draw and it was over a week later that he returned to the Fas Gas on 9th Avenue in Meadow Lake to check his tickets. His first ticket won nothing, but the second one said it was a million dollar win, however, Lamothe says he didn’t believe what he was seeing so he put it at the bottom of the pile and kept on scanning. His next ticket was a $2 winner. Lamothe figured that was a more realistic amount, and then he scanned his million dollar winning ticket again, and called his friend over to verify it, scanning it a few more times. His plans are to finish building his house and taking the family to Vancouver.
Walter Rokosh of Regina also won $1 million in the October 14th Lotto Max draw. He bought his ticket from the Northgate Esso. Rokosh says his head was spinning when he claimed the prize, looking at all those zeroes. His wife didn’t believe him at first when he told her of the win.
The couple were already planning to retire, so Rokosh says it’s nice to not have to worry and there will be a lot less money stress in the future.
