Give 3 in 2023—- that’s the call from Canadian Blood Services to boost donations over the holiday season.
Prairie spokesperson for CBS, Lisa Beechinor, says there is a noticeable drop in blood, plasma, and platelet donations from November through February. In Saskatoon through the end of the year there are 1,300 appointments that need to be filled to meet hospital demand and patient needs.
Beechinor explains that there are more than three ways to give, so it’s your choice for the Give 3 in 2023 campaign.
Along with blood, platelets and plasma donations, you can post your donation on social media and encourage others to donate, join the stem cell registry, register to become an organ or tissue donor, make a financial contribution or bring a friend to your next donation to donate with you.
She adds that with the rising costs and challenges making ends meet, if you are finding it difficult to donate this holiday season, you can save a life by donating blood or other blood products.
Beechinor says you are giving someone extra time with their family. “You are giving them health and that’s something that you don’t get to give on a normal daily basis and it costs you absolutely nothing.”
