The military is going to start flying Canadian citizens, permanent residents and their families out of Tel Aviv by the end of the week.
Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly says Canadians will be flown to Athens and from there the government has arranged with Air Canada to fly them the rest of the way home.
She says they are also working on additional options for those who can’t reach the airport in Tel Aviv. She says three Canadians are missing, two are confirmed dead and one is presumed dead.
Meanwhile, in Saskatoon, if you notice flags are half-mast on city buildings it is to mourn the loss of lives from the Hamas attack on Israel. The Mayor of Saskatoon says he extends sincere condolences and support to the Jewish community.
Charlie Clark says the attacks by Hamas have sent shock waves that affect many families right here in Saskatoon and that there are people in the community who have lost loved ones or are still trying to contact loved ones.
