Protests can be expected on highways across the country with the goal to axe the carbon tax. The group calls themselves the Nationwide Protest Against Carbon Tax. One of the organizers, Sam Field, says these inter-provincial border strikes will maintain at least one centre lane open for traffic and they will continue, until the tax is gone, regardless of how long it takes. He urges participants to act peacefully and respectfully.
There were numerous Axe the Tax protests on highways across the country today, including west of Calgary near Cochrane, on the TransCanada Highway where Nova Scotia and New Brunswick meet, and in Ottawa, along with the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border on the #1 Highway.
