An RCMP news release says around 11:20am on Monday, a vehicle was seen driving directly at the building before coming to stop before hitting the detachment. RCMP say the man left the vehicle armed with a bladed weapon and was uttering threats. Officers attempted to deescalate the situation through several verbal commands. When that didn’t work, an officer used pepper spray. The man was taken into custody and de-contaminated.

A 51-year-old man from Radisson has been charged with assault on a police officer with a weapon, uttering threats, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The man made his first court appearance on Tuesday.
