Turtleford RCMP are warning the public of the presence of dangerous illicit drugs circulating in its detachment area.
Two separate sudden deaths occurred on April 11 on Thunderchild First Nation. The RCMP investigation suggests fentanyl may have been involved in these incidents, but this can’t be confirmed until the results of a toxicology have been completed by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
During a separate traffic stop investigation on Thunderchild First Nation on April 12, drugs located and seized by Turtleford RCMP from a vehicle later tested positive for fentanyl.
Turtleford RCMP say they need the public’s help to remove the dangerous drugs from the community and are asking anyone with information to call the RCMP or to provide information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers.
For those seeking emergency assistance during an overdose, the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides some legal protection. Naloxone kits and training and take-home fentanyl and benzodiazepine drug checking strips are available.
