The Government of Saskatchewan issued a statement yesterday evening indicating the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation and the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee have reached a tentative agreement. The STF has agreed to take the offer to its membership for ratification.
The government says the tentative agreement includes a three-year term, providing stability to the education sector, enhancements to teachers’ benefits package. STF says the deal includes salary increases of 3 percent in year one; 3 percent in year two; and 2 percent in year three with retroactive pay to September 2023. As well there is reference to the accountability framework in relation to a Memorandum of Understanding.
Job action ended at midnight last Friday after teachers and the government agreed to go back to the bargaining table. The most recent job action included province wide refusal to perform extracurricular activities including lunchroom supervision and volunteering for after-school events.
The Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee says it feels this is a fair and reasonable agreement that will benefit Saskatchewan students, teachers, and families. STF is holding a news conference, virtually, at 10:30 a.m. this morning.
