A search warrant executed at a rural property in southern Alberta not only turned up suspected stolen items but animals in distress.
RCMP recovered a stolen truck, trailer and skid steer and arrested one man leaving the rural property on Monday in Mountain View County. As a result of the arrest, the search warrant was executed where the animals were found. RCMP are working with the Alberta SPCA after seizing 56 dogs of various breeds, 10 sheep, nine llamas, four chickens and three geese.
As well, RCMP seized six stolen trucks, an ATV, an RV, two flatdeck trailers, two shotguns, a bolt action rifle, two .22 calibre rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, six industrial heaters and a Norco mountain bike.
Forty-four-year-old Michael McGill is facing weapons charges as well as Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He is back in Alberta Provincial Court today (thurs).
Mountain View County is located middway between Red Deer and Calgary.
