A video posted online Wednesday morning captured a dangerous near-miss between a semi-truck and a snowplow on a highway just south of Kindersley.
The footage shows the semi attempting to pass another semi in low visibility, narrowly avoiding a collision with a snowplow.
Dan Palmer, a spokesperson for the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, emphasized that they just want everyone home safe.
“At the end of the day we just ask people to please be patient, please be mindful. We want everyone to go home safe at night whether that’s the snowplow operator or driver, everybody on the road, our team-mates there who may be a plow operator or tow truck operator, our colleagues – you know – with the RCMP. Please be patient and drive to current road conditions, like I said, we want everyone to go home safe at night.”
He says motorists need to remember that snowplows will create a mini blizzard in and around and behind them.
” So, the key thing for a motorist or anybody travelling near those to stay back and stay safe, be patient. Just remember these snowplows will pull over every 10 to 15 kilometres when it is safe to do so.”
