The 15-year-old student charged with attempted murder, arson and aggravated assault after allegedly lighting her classmate on fire has pleaded not guilty in court.
The girl, who was 14 at the time of the incident, chose a trial by judge alone at Court of King’s Bench this morning (Friday).
Now, July 14-17 has been scheduled for a preliminary inquiry to determine whether there is enough evidence to send the case to trial.
It was September 5th, the first day of school, at Evan Hardy Collegiate, when a 15-year-old girl was doused in a flammable liquid and lit on fire. The accused is also charged with unlawfully causing bodily harm to her teacher, who was also injured while attempting to put out the fire.
The names of the accused and victim cannot be published under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
