The Saskatoon Police Service says a man is facing charges after fleeing from police just before 1 this morning (Wed). Officers noticed a suspected stolen vehicle around 20th Street East and 1st Avenue South and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but police report the vehicle sped off, and was disobeying traffic signals and driving into oncoming traffic. The driver hit a concrete barrier near the intersection of 19th Street East and 4th Avenue South and then took off on foot. He was located a short time later by patrol officers and a police dog team. A 32-year-old man is charged with dangerous driving, evading police and hit and run.
About an hour later, there was an incident on 8th Street. Saskatoon Police have arrested a 41-year-old man after responding to an assault with a pry bar just before 2 this morning (Wed). When officers arrived at the parking lot of a bar in the 1300 block of 8th Street East, officers located a man matching the suspect’s description and seized the weapon. along with fentanyl and meth. The injuries for a 27-year-old man are believed to be non life threatening. The suspect is charged with aggravated assault and possession of meth and fentanyl.
