An RCMP officer was dragged by a moving vehicle and a police vehicle was struck during an arrest in Sturgeon Lake First Nation.
On Wednesday, at 2:40 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP were assisting Warman RCMP officers with an investigation into a stolen truck and break and enter reported in Corman Park.
Officers located the truck at a residence on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation, but when one officer approached the truck, the driver started backing out of the driveway, taking the officer with it.
Then, the driver advanced forward, hitting an occupied RCMP police vehicle that was blocking the driveway. No injuries have been reported.
The 17-year-old female driver was removed from the truck and arrested. Four additional occupants of the truck fled on foot to the nearby bush where they were located and arrested an hour later with the help of police dogs.
The youth driver is charged with 7 offences including assault of a peace officer with a weapon, and she appeared in court on Thursday. The passengers were released without charge.
