Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Trade and Export Development, Kim Breckner called out the Saskatchewan Party government Friday, on the lack of follow through on their promise during Donald Trump’s Trade War, to buy Canadian and cancel a high-profile contract with a politically connected U.S. company.
Breckner adds Shercom Industries was promised work, but the Sask. Party government took away the contract and gave it to a U.S. company, CRM Rubber. She says the result has cost more than 100 well-paid jobs right here in Saskatchewan.
The MLA states, “They need to start prioritizing Saskatchewan businesses, and they can start today by tearing up this American contract and bring these jobs back to Saskatchewan.”
Beckner also stated Premier Moe is “Leaving the door wide-open to Saskatchewan leaving Canada” because of his unwillingness to commit to saying how he would vote against Western Separation. Breckner emphasized how we should be coming together to support local businesses, not flirting with separatism and shipping our jobs south of the border.
