Cabin owners and recreational users of Lac Pelletier—about half-an-hour south of Swift Current—are upset about a proposed 2,000 head feedlot.
Monette Farms wants to establish the feedlot on land that is in the vicinity of the lake and regional park.
More than 250 people attended a public meeting last Tuesday to voice their concerns. Residents have no issues with a feedlot, but believe this proposal is too close to the water body and also have concerns about potential odours from a year-round intensive livestock operation.
The RM of Lac Pellitier will make the final decision on the proposal, which already also caught the attention of the Progressive Party of Saskatchewan.
