The province is extending the deadline to submit claim costs to the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.
Applications are currently required to be submitted within six months of the disaster; however, the extension will provide one additional year from the original date of expiration. PDAP also encourages residents who are applying to submit their PDAP application even if they are incomplete, or the resident is still working with their direct insurer.
In other wildfire news, the Recovery Task Team is making good progress on debris removal and clean-up. Crews started on July 23rd at the Denare Beach site, where SGI removed 230 vehicles that were destroyed due to wildfire.
There are currently 60 active wildfires in the province, up from 55 reported on Friday. Of those active fires, 12 are categorized as not contained. In addition, 12 communities are currently under an evacuation order, including Lac La Plonge, Beauval, Jans Bay, Ramsey Bay, Pinehouse, and Ile-Ã -la-Crosse.
