A Thursday morning call to the Prince Albert Police Service concerning a suspicious person and a deceased person has become the city’s fourth homicide of 2025.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Lyle Ballantyne. His next of kin have been notified. Police arrested and charged a 56-year-old man with second degree murder in relation to the homicide and he will make his first court appearance on Tuesday. At about 8:50 a.m. on July 31, officers responded to the 500 block of 39th Street West for a report of a suspicious person with further information indicating someone had potentially located a deceased person. Police located the deceased male with members of the Prince Albert Police Service Forensic Identification Section, Prince Albert RCMP FIS and Saskatchewan Coroners Service attending the scene.
