Worship performer and MAGA supporter Sean Feucht is performing in Saskatoon tonight at Diefenbaker Park, much to the dismay and concern of many people in the city. Feucht has outwardly shown his anti-LGBTQ views.
Analu Alvarez is the Education Manager at OUTSaskatoon, an organization that provides support for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and says there was a lot of protesting against this performance, but it is still going forward.
Alvarez says the concert in Saskatoon sends a message to the 2SLGBTQ+ community and other vulnerable people they are not supported. She says the hesitation to stop the concert seemed to be focused on the freedom of speech component but says hate speech is not the same as freedom of speech. She says hate speech and his anti-LGBTQ views are harmful, and freedom of speech can’t have a place if it goes against peoples’ safety, putting people in danger and going against basic human rights.
