The Saskatoon Police Service says a 75-year-old woman was transported to hospital after being beaten with a gardening tool while working in the community garden by John Dolan School.
This was at 5:10 p.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of Arlington Avenue. The suspect had fled on foot, but police were able to locate the suspect in the nearby tree line and took her into custody.
In a news release police say the suspect was being booked into detention when a female Special Constable was punched in the face. The senior who was gardening suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the Special Constable required hospital treatment for a minor injury
A 27-year-old woman from Prince Albert is now facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Assaulting a Peace Officer, Breach of Undertaking and Breach of Probation. Police say it was found that she was also wanted on outstanding warrants of arrest in Prince Albert.
