Despite the recent production delay announcement, work is progressing forward at BHP’s Jansen Potash Mine.
A significant milestone was reached on site this month with the completion and installation of a new production headframe. The frame stands over 50 metres tall and weighs about 2,000 tonnes, constructed almost completely of steel that was fabricated in Canada by Walters Steel in Southern Ontario and SaskArc in Oxbow. Installation required a team of about 600 people.
In BHP’s mission to reach production by mid-2027, the team will continue to finalize the configuration, install ropes, and commission hoisting systems.
