According to town residents in Richmound, Saskatchewan the RCMP rolled in at 5 a.m. this morning (Wednesday) reportedly with bull horns telling Romana Didulo, the self-named Queen of Canada, and her followers, to come out with their hands empty. Reports from local residents indicate there were 15 RCMP vehicles and 30 RCMP officers present. Didulo and her followers have been occupying a school in Richmound since being forced out of Kamsack by local citizens in September 2023.
In the most recent altercation with Richmound residents, last month, the community’s mayor stated on Facebook that Didulo and others staying at the former Richmound school were pumping sewage into a nearby park.
Brad Miller says the town was able to block sewer access to the school. However, they noticed water overflowing from a manhole cover near the school building and he believed this proved he and the village were correct in their assumption that Didulo and others had been stealing water without paying for it. However, he said that the group continued to use the sewer after it was plugged. So, the town managed to shut off the water and that’s when he says they started pumping out sewage from the compound.
Wednesday morning the Saskatchewan RCMP issued an advisory indicating there was a large police presence in the community but no threat to public safety. An update is expected later today.
