Saskatoon Police have charged a former music teacher with sexual assault in connection to several incidents starting in 1984.
On August 20 of this year, police laid historical sexual assault charges against Raymond Eldon McHargue, who is now 87 years old.
Police say he was reported to have sexually assaulted at least one boy between the years of 1984 and 1988. He taught piano and organ lessons at a music store in Saskatoon, as well as inside his private home on Churchill Drive. He only quit teaching piano and organ lessons in 2020.
McHargue has been charged with committing acts of gross indecency, sexual interference with a person under the age of 14, and sexual assault. McHargue will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on September 11.
Investigators believe there could be more victims in the community. Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by McHargue is encouraged to report the abuse to their local police or by calling the Saskatoon Police Service.
