The subject of Wednesday’s Dangerous Person Alert for the Big River First Nation and surrounding area has been arrested, charged and will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday to face those charges.
On September 10, at about 2:50 p.m., Big River RCMP received a report of an armed male, who turned out to be 19-year-old Drayden McAdam of the Big River First Nation, on the Big River First Nation. Officers began searching for McAdam and learned that he was driving around the community on a dirt bike and discharged a firearm several times. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. When police located McAdam, he fled on foot into a forested area. Out of consideration for public safety, Saskatchewan RCMP issued the dangerous person alert at 4:09 p.m. and called in their Police Dog Services, Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and Critical Incident Response Team to help with searching for McAdam. They succeeded in locating the arresting McAdam in a heavily-treed area near the Big River First Nation community at about 6:15 p.m. with the dangerous person alert ended at 6:21. McAdam was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and resist/obstruct peace officer. In addition, McAdam was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and four other offences in relation to a September 6th incident on Big River First Nation, for which there was an outstanding warrant for him.
