Aggravated Assault
The Saskatoon Police Service say officers responded to a report of a group of people fighting in a parking lot in the 900 block of 22nd Street West.
This was at 10:15 p.m. Friday and when officers arrived, they located an injured man suffering from multiple wounds.
Police say witnesses reported that two men were involved in a fight with another group of males who were in possession of a machete and bear spray. The males in the second group fled prior to police arriving on scene.
A 29-year-old victim is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Members of the Serious Assault Unit are investigating.
Armed Robbery
The Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to a weapons incident at Preston Crossing on the weekend. The call came in at 9:00 p.m. Sunday from the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North after two males who had been in the store were confronted by staff members about theft. One man was reportedly seen with a knife.
Both tried to flee on foot but were quickly taken into custody by police and a conducted energy weapon was deployed in making one of the arrests. Officers seized a knife and an improvised firearm.
A 20-year-old man and a 29-year-old man are both facing charges of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of Break and Enter Tools. Both men were also in breach of court condition.
Stabbing
The Saskatoon Police Service says officers were called to the Royal University Hospital on Saturday around 1:00 a.m. after an injured man had shown up seeking treatment.
Officers say the victim told them he and a friend were walking behind some businesses in the 3100 block of 8th Street East at approximately 12:30 a.m., when they were approached by a group of unknown males with bicycles. An altercation occurred resulting in the 20-year-old suffering non-life-threatening stab wounds.
Evade Police
Saskatoon Police arrested a man who was wanted for evading police, and they say was hiding out in a basement of a home in Confederation Park.
Around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday a canine officer on patrol attempted a traffic stop of a vehicle near 22nd Street and Avenue I North.
Police say the driver refused to pull over and began to evade officers. The Air Support Unit helped guide ground units and while the tire deflation device successfully disabled the tires, the vehicle continued until parking outside a home in the 100 block of Cartier Crescent.
Police say officers could see parts of a firearm in the vehicle. The Tactical Support Unit assisted and three people inside the home were taken into custody.
A 27-year-old man is facing charges including Dangerous Driving and Evade Police. He also had outstanding criminal code warrants. Members of the Guns and Gangs Unit continue to investigate.
