Saskatchewan Ministry of Health has issued a drug alert for Saskatoon after recent samples tested at Saskatoon Prairie Harm Reduction contained Para-fluorofentanyl, Fentanyl, Benzodiazepines and/or Medetomidine.
The drugs are described as being in chunks that are either, yellow, red, blue or pink and they can be smoked or injected.
The Ministry of Health says Naloxone will reverse the effects of Fentanyl and other opioids but will not reverse the effects of Benzodiazepines or Medetomidine which is a sedative and advise there is a high risk of overdose and death.
The alert is in effect until November 13, 2025, at 11:59PM.
