It’s a rarity in Saskatchewan, where you get to go to school pretty much no matter what. But it’s a snow day for Prairie Spirit School Division. Prairie Spirit has sent notice to all its families that all of its schools are closed today because of the pending blizzard.
Weather is starting to impact the western side of the province. The latest from the Highway Hotline reports travel not recommended due to ice for Kindersley, Kyle, Leader, Swift Current and Morse. Saskatoon Public Schools says school bus transportation is expected to run as scheduled today and bus service providers will share updates on any potential delays via their webpages. This is for First Student and Hertz Northern.
on the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools website, it says the school division and First Student Canada expect school buses to operate as scheduled under most weather and urban travel conditions usually experienced in Saskatchewan which includes a blizzard.
The weather warnings include freezing rain, wind, winter storm and of course blizzard conditions. The stormy weather encompasses all of southern Saskatchewan in one way or another but the weather warnings don’t extend as far north as Prince Albert, however, do include North Battleford, Rosthern and Saskatoon.
