New data from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Trade and Export Development shows that in a year of international trade disputes, tariffs and geopolitical events that disruped the trade market, the province was able to send exports to over 160 countries.
In South America, Brazil was one of the top destinations for Saskatchewan products. Exports totaled $1.3 billion, mainly in Potash.
Saskatchewan also saw a large growth in exports in other countries, Japan, Peru, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates. In Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, exports were worth a collective $4 billion.
Saskatchewan’s main exports were potash, canola seed, wheat and uranium. In 2007, the value of the province’s exports were $19.8 billion, they have since climbed to nearly $50 billion on average over the past 3 years.
