Broadview RCMP are asking the public not to commit any vigilante acts towards animals on the Ochapowace First Nation after the sudden death of a pre-teen boy.
He was found dead outside on the First Nation Saturday evening. RCMP say the boy left a home in the community around 5:00 p.m. headed to another home in the community and was located by a passerby just before 8:00 p.m. several hundred metres from the home he’d left.
While the death isn’t considered suspicious an autopsy by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service will determine the cause of death. RCMP say there is talk in the community and officials can’t confirm whether the boy dead of an animal mauling or if cold weather, or another cause was a factor in his death. Hence the request to refrain from vigilantism.
Ochapowace First Nation is located near Whitewood in southeast Saskatchewan.
