Five people in Saskatchewan are among the 20 people in Canada who have fallen ill from eating certain Pillsbury brand Pizza Pops Pepperoni and Bacon which were recalled due to E.coli O26.
Four people have also been hospitalized and those who have fallen ill range in age from a 1-year-old to a senior who is 87 years old.
Those stricken with illness are from Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and New Brunswick.
This recall was triggered by findings by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.
The CFIA says people who are infected with E. coli bacteria can spread the bacteria to other people several days to several weeks after they have become infected, even if they don’t have symptoms.
