Road conditions look good for Christmas Eve travelers—but there are some issues to be aware of on Christmas Day.
Environment Canada says freezing rain and ice pellets will hit the southwest portion of the province overnight from Montana. This includes the Maple Creek, Consul, Eastend, and Val Marie regions.
Further west in central Alberta, between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow is expected on Christmas Eve in the Red Deer, Edmonton and Lloydminster regions. The system will cross into the northern grainbelt on Wednesday night and during Christmas morning. Snowfall amounts for the Prince Albert and Meadow Lake are forecast to range between 5 and 9 centimetres. Monitor the Highway Hotline and Environment Canada weather forecast prior to making any long trips in these regions.
