There is an area of south-central Saskatchewan that is under a snowfall warning. The warning area includes Radisson, south through Zealandia, Sovereign, to Lucky Lake and all the way to the Manitoba border encompassing Saskatoon, Nipawin, Melfort Tisdale but doesn’t go as far south as Yorkton.
The snow will begin this evening and intensify through the overnight. Environment Canada is forecasting accumulations near 15 centimetres. Environment Canada says travel conditions will likely become challenging with reduced visibility a times. The snow will taper off through the day on Saturday.
The City of Saskatoon says with Environment and Climate Change Canada issuing a weather warning for Saskatoon, forecasting 10 to 15 centimetres of snow throughout the day Friday and into Saturday morning, City crews will be on the streets during the storm. The City says sanding trucks will manage icy sections while plows and graders will clear snow as it accumulates on priority routes.
A snow event is declared if more than 5 centimetres of snow falls at which time streets are clearing according to the Priority Street Grading Map start with the main arterials like Circle Drive, Idylwyld Drive, 22nd Street and 8th Street.
