Being so impaired that he was sleepy, then couldn’t out-run police has led to a 20-year-old man facing four separate charges from an early-morning Saturday incident.

According to a Saskatoon Police Service news release, officers were called to the intersection of Eighth Street and Broadway Avenue for a report of a suspicious vehicle with an unconscious male driver in a driving lane. As police initially tried to wake the man up, the vehicle started rolling forward and came to rest against a snow bank a short distance away. As the officers continued to try and rouse him, the man awoke and drove away into oncoming driving lanes. A brief chase ended at the intersection of Wilson Crescent and Clarence Avenue South when the vehicle stopped and the man was arrested without further incident. The 20-year-old is charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08 following a breathalyzer test. He was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and evading police.
