WestJet is dialing back on the decision to pack more seats on some of their planes.
The airline issued a news release saying it will return to its prior standard seat pitch for economy cabins.
The company says it was following in the footsteps of other airlines in the world which adopted the densified seating to offer affordable fares. WestJet Group CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech said it is important to try new products just as important to react quickly if it doesn’t meet the needs of their guests.
WestJet says it will remove one row of seats converting all 180 seat aircraft to 174 seat layouts.
The company says it based the decision on a review of operational data and feedback from guests.
