The provincial government is increasing the number of Lieutenant Governor Scholarships as a way to expand support for Saskatchewan students.
With the increase, students will now have access to $80,000 in scholarship funding to support their studies. Two Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor Scholarships and two Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor Indigenous Scholarships will be awarded. Each scholarship is valued at $20,000.
The scholarships are given to students who demonstrate academic excellence in any field of study.
Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre said she is grateful to see the government expand its support for students in the province.
Advanced Education Minister Ken Cheveldayoff said the increase is part of the government’s commitment to developing talent and supporting students.
The Nearly $1 million has been awarded through 63 scholarships to date.
