The Saskatoon Police Service says their officers were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a report that occupant had arrived home only to find unknown men in the house.
The allegedly assaulted the 43-year-old man and stole his wallet while also trying to steal the keys to his truck. One of the assailants reportedly had a sawed-off shotgun and they eventually fled the home, in the 1100 block of Avenue J North, in a Ford Taurus.
When police spotted a suspect vehicle and tried to pull it over, it began to evade police first on Wanuskewin Road and McOrmond Drive before becoming stuck in a snowbank on Range Road 3050. Two men fled the vehicle on foot but were located by a police Canine Team. One male suffered injuries consistent with a dog bite. The Taurus was found to be stolen.
Two men ages 40 and 33, are facing more than ten charges including armed robbery, dangerous driving, evade police and theft. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and more charges are expected.
