Charges have now been laid in connection to a fatal collision in Regina from October.
The crash occurred on October 12 in the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue. Shortly after noon, police, Regina Fire and Protective Services and EMS arrived on scene to find an injured female lying on the ground. EMS pronounced the 19-year-old victim dead on scene.
Investigation unveiled that a freight truck was travelling east on Dewdney Avenue when the driver failed to stop at a red light and collided with a vehicle travelling south on Elphinstone Street. The driver of the victim vehicle suffered minor injuries; however, the freight truck continued on, leaving the roadway and striking the 19-year-old woman who was inside a bus shelter.
The truck collided with several fences and a streetlight before coming to a stop a short distance away in the front yard of a home.
Now, 44-year-old Biniam Emaha is being charged. He will make his first appearance on this charge in Regina Provincial Court Tuesday.
