The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a call about a commercial structure fire in the 500 block of 48th street east yesterday at 7:53 am.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters ovserved smoke coming from a closed overhead garage door on the structure. They had to cut a fence to a compound at the rear of the building in order to get in and the nused forcible entry tools to get in the building, where they found smoke and flames inside.

Crews began to hose down the fire, while a second crew searched to confirm there was no one inside of the building.

The fire has now been completely extinguished, and no one was hurt. A fire investigator will determine a cause, origin and damage estimate.
