The NDP is calling on Premier Scott Moe and Public Safety Minister Michael Weger to address the rise in violent crimes in Prince Albert.
The December 2025 Monthly Statistics report released by Prince Albert Police shows that arson rose 41 per cent, motor vehicle thefts rose 29 per cent, robberies rose by 39 per cent and thefts over $5000 increased by 40 per cent.
The report also adds that there were nearly 2,000 violent crimes in 2025, which is 10 per cent more than in 2024. Break-ins at schools, churches and halls in Prince Albert have tripled in the past year.
According to the NDP, the severe crime rate in Saskatchewan is double the national average. They say that 15 months into his current term, Scott Moe has not followed through with his 2024 election campaign promise of hiring more police officers.
