Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, police were called to the 200 block of Marquis Drive after getting a call about someone cutting a catalytic converter from a vehicle.
In a news release the Saskatoon Police Service says officers could see a man beneath a vehicle when they rolled up and as they approached his location he retreated to a truck. The police say he then rammed the police cruiser in an attempt to flee but got stuck in a snowbank.
A police service dog was deployed as the officers removed to people from the truck. The driver was treated for a dog bite.
A 40-year-old man has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, resisting arrest, mischief under $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000, attempted theft under $5000, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions. A 45-year-old man has also been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and resisting arrest.
