Officers with the Corman Park Police Service have been cracking down on vehicles driving while not equipped or safe to do so.
In a social media post the police service says Monday afternoon an officer observed a trailer with its axle dragging on the roadway. Upon closer inspection, two tires were also missing. The vehicle was removed from the road.
The driver was issued four tickets and an inspection ticket.
And on Wednesday night an officer with Corman Park Police saw a truck on the Yellowhead travelling at approximately 110 km/h with sparks and a burning smell coming from the driver’s side tire.
The police service reminds drivers that if you smell burning, notice sparks, or feel unusual vibrations from your vehicle, pull over as soon as possible. They say tires in that condition are extremely dangerous and can lead to a sudden blowout and loss of vehicle control.
A traffic stop was conducted, two tickets were issued, and the vehicle was removed from the roadway for public safety.
