Travel advice posted to social media by the Canadian federal government says roads in affected areas of Mexico are reopening, as well, airports in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara are open. Sunday’s dramatic events included burning vehicles and businesses. That was done by members of Jalisco New Generation Cartel after a government raid killed their leader known as El Mencho. There were incidents in several cities including Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara.
The Saskatoon Airport Authority says Global Affairs Canada has issued a travel advisory for Mexico due to the security situation within Puerto Vallarta. Passengers scheduled to fly to Puerto Vallarta are advised to check with their airline before coming to the airport.
The Regina airport has the same advice saying that due to the ongoing situation in Mexican cities, including Puerto Vallarta, it is leading to flight cancellations. They are telling clients to check the flight status with the airline directly prior to heading to the airport.
