On January 16 this year the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region’s National Security Enforcement Section in Manitoba launched an investigation into a user of the social media platform “X”, formerly known as Twitter.
They were investigating threats that were allegedly posted targeting Prime Minister Mark Carney and inciting hatred towards the Jewish and Muslim Communities.
On February 13, 2026, officers arrested a 55-year-old Winnipeg resident and Jason Paul Rindall has been charged with uttering a threat to Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney to cause death, uttering a threat to Muslim persons to cause death, and uttering a threat to Jewish persons to cause death.
Rindall remains in custody and is scheduled to make his next appearance at the Winnipeg Provincial Court on March 13, 2026.
