Saskatoon’s Administration is recommending some active transportation improvements on Victoria Avenue between Taylor and Ruth streets.
As will be presented to Saskatoon’s transportation committee today, Administration says in order to promote Victoria Avenue as a safe All Ages and Abilities (AAA) multi-modal transportation corridor, some work needs to be done in this particular section.
The recommendation is that a One-Way Protected Bike Lane be approved, costing $3.6 million. This new bike lane would also mean on-street parking would be removed from Victoria Avenue, and three trees would need to be removed to install new sidewalks.
If approved by Committee and subsequently Council, the project will remain on the Transportation Master Plan list of prioritized transportation infrastructure projects awaiting funding.
